animal neglect

I love animals but unfortunately, not everyone feels this way and there are many cases of animal neglect. A recent case was in Cornwall and involved four English springer spaniel dogs. They were discovered by the RSPCA living in terrible conditions and suffering from several conditions. 

The dogs- Lucky, Whisky, Jade and Serena- were covered in dog faeces and had staining indicating that they had been subjected to these awful conditions for a while. Lucky and Whisky had severe matting which was extremely tight and reached the floor, this could not only provide discomfort for the dogs but could also lead to tearing of the skin.

Jade had a huge mass weighing half a kilo hanging from her stomach between her legs, it was so large it would have taken months, if not years to get that way. Serena was suffering from a severe flea infestation, she had a bald area on her back and a fresh sore on her tail. All four dogs were suffering from advanced dental disease causing them significant pain. 

They were handed into RSPCA care and treated but sadly Lucky, Whisky and jade did not recover from untreatable conditions. However, Serena has made a full recovery and has found a loving new home.

The Father and Daughter responsible were both disqualified from keeping dogs for ten years. He received a six-month curfew order and £2,836,16 costs. She received 150 hours unpaid work and £1000 costs 

Dogs

As my favourite animals are dogs then i shall start by doing a post about them! I think dogs are amazing, clever and lovely creatures but if you keep them as a pet they need a lot of looking after. a lot of people underestimate the amount of work needed to keep a dog and sadly, this is one of the reasons lots of dogs are abandoned and have to be put into rescue centres. Rescue centres are brilliant places that find abandoned dogs and try and re home them. If you are looking for a new dog you should definitely look into getting one from a rescue centre.

There are hundreds of different breeds of dogs and even within each breed there are even more variations of that breed of dog. Before you get a new dog you should research your preferred breed to ensure their is not something about the breed you could not handle. 
However, at rescue centres you will often find mixed breed dogs.
